MeroPack™
Bioresorbable Nasal Dressing and Sinus Stent
The first combination dressing designed specifically to address the hemostatic and wound-healing needs of the sinus surgeon.

The Best of Both Worlds
MeroPack™ is the first combination dressing designed to address the postoperative hemostatic and wound-healing needs of the sinus surgeon.

MeroPack is composed of 80 percent esterified hyaluronic acid and 20 percent collagen. In its dry state, it is easily inserted. Upon hydration, it swells to 1.0cm diameter in about six seconds. In the hydrated state, it transforms into a biocompatible, muco-adhesive gel to provide a moist wound-healing environment to aid in the healing process.

Similar to Merocel® sponge, MeroPack absorbs approximately 14 times its weight in fluid and provides excellent stenting capabilities to prevent adhesions between mucosal surfaces during mesothelial cell regeneration and the lateralization of the middle turbinate. The collagen in MeroPack is added to help control minimal bleeding following surgery or nasal trauma. MeroPack is slowly resorbed within two weeks, eliminating the need for painful packing removal. If desired, it is easily removed by suctioning at the first postoperative visit.

Why hyaluronic acid?
Studies have shown that wounds heal faster and the quality of tissue repair is higher with less fibrous scarring in the presence of hyaluronic acid. Biocompatibility, wound-healing properties and adhesion-prevention have been well established for this material.

Why collagen?
Collagen is a well-known, absorbable hemostatic agent. In contact with bleeding surfaces, it attracts platelets to facilitate aggregation. MeroPack™ is the first postoperative dressing system that combines two important biomaterials: collagen, a known hemostatic material, and hyaluronic acid, a known adjunct to wound healing. This sponge-like device assists with the immediate need to control bleeding and oozing in the first 24 hours and the wound-healing event in the first week.
